Before setting off, you should secure your bike safely to the bike carrier and remove any accessories that are not adequately secured. Strong airflow – particularly when driving on the motorway – can damage attachments or cause them to come loose or become lost. This may also endanger other road users.
Permanently attached accessories can generally remain on the bike. These include bottle cages, permanently fitted mudguards, mobile phone holders and luggage racks such as the INFINITY UNIVERSAL.
You should remove detachable mudguards from your bike before transport. This includes models such as the SHOCKBLADE, X-BLADE, MUDROCKER and RACEBLADE. You should also remove any other detachable bags and loose items, such as water bottles.
TIP
For permanently fitted mudguards, we recommend additionally securing any unsupported sections. This applies particularly to sections extending beyond the final mudguard stay or protruding in front of the fork. For example, place a washing-up sponge or a folded cloth between the tyre and the mudguard. You can then secure the mudguard to the tyre using a hook-and-loop strap or a suitable securing strap. This helps to reduce vibrations and prevent possible damage during transport.
Before setting off and again after the first few miles, check that your bike, all fastening elements and any accessories remaining on the bike are still securely attached.
