Is a pump with a maximum pressure of 8 bar just as good as a pump with a maximum pressure of 12 bar?
This depends on the tyre you are inflating. A pump with a lower maximum pressure usually has a larger tube diameter and therefore a higher pumping volume per stroke. It is therefore more suitable for large-volume tyres. A pump with a higher maximum pressure requires less effort (but more strokes!) if you are riding in the higher pressure range, e.g. with road bike tyres.
