ESC is a safety release system for mudguards developed by SKS GERMANY. If a foreign object becomes caught in the front wheel while riding, the mudguard may be subjected to considerable stress. Without a safety release system, the mudguard could, in the worst case, be pulled towards the tyre and block the front wheel.
The safety system reduces this risk: the mounting adapters at the ends of the stays consist of two interlocking parts. Under heavy load, these parts separate from one another in a controlled manner, disconnecting the stay from the bicycle.
